Equitable Development Initiative

The Equitable Development Initiative (EDI) was conceived and founded in Detroit in 2016 to better ensure that the local real estate developer community would reflect the city’s diversity, perspectives and priorities.

At its inception, 313c worked with Capital Impact Partners (CIP) to create a 4-day pilot program and network event to launch the EDI program. In 2017, 313c and CIP conceived, designed and delivered a comprehensive 5-month development course for emerging real estate developers of color in Detroit.

Today the Equitable Development Initiative is designed specifically to position real estate developers of color in major urban markets to participate in growth and revitalization efforts in the cities they call home.

Since its founding, EDI has expanded to Washington, D.C., the San Francisco Bay Area, Dallas, and Austin Texas. 313c provides Momentus/Capital Impact with program support, curriculum design and project based learning modules across all 5 geographies.
